We are excited to introduce the Blessing Our Neighbors Project, an initiative that embraces opportunity, prosperity and purpose. We want you to feel good knowing everything you discard during our session together will directly benefit those less fortunate.

Poverty in Missouri

Individuals and families are subject to poverty for different reasons at different times. Contributing factors may include job loss, illness, increasing health care cost, low-wage employment, lack of education, affordable housing shortages and other unforeseen circumstances.

How are poverty numbers going to look for the future with the Covid-19 Outbreak affecting our neighborhoods?

Only time will tell, but we can make a difference by recognizing the adverse impact poverty has on people’s lives and our communities.

Empowering Others

The best way to reduce poverty is to empower those in need. Empowerment is the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights. It’s about providing people tools and opportunities to build their own, better futures.

Sacred Space Organizing is proud to partner with Connections to Success (Dress for Success Midwest), The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (St. Louis), and Catholic Charities (St. Louis), our top picks for nonprofit organizations offering a network of valuable support services to empower those in need, and to break the cycle of poverty in our communities.

Through our collaborative efforts, and your generous donations, we can improve lives for hundreds of families in need in St. Louis and beyond.

Thank you to our SSO clients and our nonprofit partners for making the Blessing Our Neighbors project possible.

We rise by lifting others

Giving is good for us. Studies show that generosity and giving back positively impacts an individual’s health, both mentally and physically. A recent studies suggests performing “random acts of kindness” for others boosts your mood more so than if you had done something for yourself.

Humans are hard wired to give to others. The more we give, the happier we feel. Volunteering allows us to connect to our community and make it a better place, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer.

Dedicating your time and passion to a worthy cause allows you to connect with your community, find new friends, advance your career, expand your network and boost your social skills. It can also reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated and provide a sense of purpose.

Volunteering and giving back simply make us happy!
